1. Describe four ethical issues that arise when storing electronic information about individuals. 2. Compare cybersecurity risks in the U.S. and another country.
Nowadays, cybersecurity threats are occurring more than ever, and even well know companies with a crucial customer base are getting breached. Due to that, when it comes to storing electronic information about individuals, some ethical issues arise, such as privacy and confidentiality, security breaches, system implementation, and data inaccuracies. When people give their sensitive information to a business or a company, they expect that to be locked and secured. Due to the breaches, people are wondering about the amount of cybersecurity plan that a business has. That includes if the business has the latest technology and programs for the data to be secure. As well, the number of people having access to view the stored information. When it comes to customer information, people wonder the amount or how authorized employees can access it. Due to that, data inaccuracies can occur within an employee.
When it comes to cybersecurity risks in the U.S and Japan, there are different actions taken to secure their citizen's safety. In the U.S., it has been clear that cybersecurity is very crucial and that there has to be cyber awareness within the society to reduce the risks of it. In general, having an up to date strategy plan when a threat is identified is very much needed. It helps to prevent any damage that can occur and protect sensitive information. Unlike the U.S., Japan is a country that is the opposite of the United States they are behind on cybersecurity plans. Japan is not prepared at all, and if a cyber threat were to attack a Japanese business, Japan would not know how to fight the attack. In general, 27 percent of Japanese companies have a cybersecurity team. Compared to the U.S., that is very low because the U.S. has over 70 percent of its businesses protected with a cybersecurity team. Japan is recently encouraging a new cybersecurity strategy plan to be used by business leaders to be aware of risks. Japan is using the United States NIST framework as a guide for their new strategic plan.
